# Copy and duplicate sections

> Understand Duplicate, contextual Copy/Cut/Paste, and when to use Saved or Global Sections for reuse.

Use **Duplicate** to make another instance on the page. Use **Copy/Cut/Paste** for supported section or layer selections. Use **Saved Sections** when you want an approved section available for reuse later.

## Duplicate a section on the current page

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the section">
    Open **Layers** and locate the section you want to reuse. Check that you selected the whole section rather than a text or image layer inside it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the section menu">
    Open the more-options menu and select **Duplicate**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Identify and position the new instance">
    Find the new instance in Layers. Rename it when supported, then drag it into the intended position.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Customize the copy">
    Edit its content and check its product, button action, links, and responsive layout before saving the page.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Duplicating a purchasing section can also duplicate its current product and action configuration. Changing its headline or image does not automatically change what shoppers will purchase.

## Copy, cut, and paste

For selections that expose clipboard actions, open the menu and choose **Copy** or **Cut**. Select the intended destination and use **Paste** when the editor makes it available.

Clipboard options are contextual. A section or layer can expose **Copy** without offering **Paste** at every possible destination. Paste also needs compatible content on the clipboard. The keyboard shortcuts shown in the menu are the appropriate shortcuts for your platform.

If Paste is disabled, check the selection and copied content before trying again. Copying a block of ordinary text or HTML outside Jurni is not the same as copying an editable Jurni section.

## Reuse across experiences

For repeatable reuse across experiences in the same shop, [save the section](/building-funnels/saved-sections) and insert it from **Saved Sections → Saved** in the destination experience. This gives your team a discoverable library item rather than relying on a temporary clipboard operation.

For content that should stay connected across its uses, use a [Global Section](/build/global-sections) instead.

<Warning>
  A second instance of a Global Section is still shared content. Do not rely on duplicating a global instance to make it independent. Use **Detach Global** when you need a local version and verify the editor's scope before changing it.
</Warning>

## After copying a Buy Box or interactive section

Check the actual product/variant, subscription options, cart or checkout action, and any scroll or modal target. A design copy is not a new commerce offer. When moving work between different shops, recheck product mappings and integrations with the Jurni team.
