Purchase options let shoppers choose which item to buy and how to buy it. Configure the real purchase first, then check that the labels and design explain it clearly.

Know the three choices

A 3-pack variant at quantity 1 is different from three units of a single-pack variant.

Configure your purchasing section

1

Choose the product

Select the Buy Box or purchasing section in the editor. Confirm the product and variant choices are correct.
2

Review the purchase choices

Check which options the section offers and what is selected when the page first loads. For subscriptions, confirm the product has the required plans in Shopify or your subscription provider.
3

Set the next action

Choose the supported cart, checkout, or external-link action. On the standard library Buy Box, use Action type.
4

Test each important combination

Try the main variants and purchase types, then confirm the item, quantity, subscription frequency, price, and discount in the actual cart or checkout.
The standard library Buy Box purchases one unit at a time. Custom Buy Boxes and other purchase sections may support quantities, bundles, or different default selections. Use the controls for the section you placed, not an assumed universal Buy Box setting.

Subscription preferences

The editor’s Settings → Subscriptions provides preferences for purchasing components that use the experience-level settings. These include one-time and subscription visibility, and defaults such as Subscription first, One-time first, and No default selection when both are offered. Save the preference and check your Buy Box. Do not rely on this control to override a standard library or custom Buy Box’s own selection behavior. If the section does not follow the preference, its purchase logic needs to be adjusted rather than only changing the label. These preferences do not create subscription plans or checkout discounts. See Subscriptions and selling plans and Discounts and promotions.
For pages that use Jurni’s variant-selection modal, Settings → Variant Select Modal offers Default and Full Screen. Full Screen also offers Show product gallery. These controls change that modal’s presentation, not every selector on the page.

Before publishing

Repeat the purchase test on mobile and desktop, and on the final live URL. Check unavailable variants as well as the default choice. A correct-looking price or selection card is not enough—the same selection must reach checkout. Add a Buy Box · Cart and checkout · Product editing scope
